Perfect for a family day at the beach and easily accessible from Tenby’s bustling town centre, Castle Beach is also home to shops, cafes, water sports equipment and deckchair hire.

Boat trips also leave from here to the idyllic Caldey Island, which is visible from the beach, so if you’re wondering what that island just off Tenby is, hop aboard for a relaxing day out.

Tenby North Beach

Probably the best beach in Tenby for that iconic harbour view with pretty pastel houses and a promenade that lines the clifftop above. 

Get comfortable on this brilliant beach and enjoy relaxing views over Carmarthen Bay. This easterly-facing beach enjoys the sunshine all day, perfect for beach games and sandcastle competitions. 

There are shops selling all the essential beach items like buckets and spades, and there’s also a fantastic shoreline diner serving hot food, ice cream and refreshments if you get thirsty after all those beach activities.

Tenby South Beach

Tenby South Beach

South Beach is Tenby’s most dog-friendly beach! There are some seasonal restrictions beneath the cliffs, but other than that your four-pawed pals are free to explore this wide expanse of sand to their heart’s content.

Tenby South Beach is also a favourite for water sports such as kitesurfing due to its wide-open stretch of sand and sea. There’s a beachside restaurant where you can sit, relax, and enjoy watching the beach action while sipping on your favourite tipple.

The prettiest harbour is also home to a small, sheltered beach. Sit and enjoy the boats bobbing away or head into town for refreshments and seaside essentials. 

Take a walk around this picturesque harbour and you’ll find charming huts selling deliciously fresh seafood. You can also book your trip to Caldey Island from here for a relaxing island adventure, wildlife watching and fresh sea air.

Whitesands Bay

Whitesands Bay

Overlooked by the impressive craggy Carn Llidi Hill, this ample expanse of fine white sand is a popular spot for surfers, windsurfers, kayakers, divers, anglers and bodyboarders. If you fancy riding these waves, then TYF is a great choice for surf lessons.  

Visitors can find a cafe, shop and surf hire behind the beach and once you’ve had your fill of sand and surf, head inland to St Davids for a fantastic array of shops, cafes, and even more exciting things to do including thrilling wildlife adventure boat trips to Ramsey, Skomer and Grassholm Islands.

Three Cliffs Bay

Three Cliffs Bay

 A wilder yet highly photographed beach with a spectacular sandy shoreline, powdery dunes, and a striking trio of limestone cliffs.  

Part of the Gower Coast Path, walkers can enjoy a refreshing view while on their epic journey but should avoid swimming and water sports due to the wilder nature of the beach’s tides and currents. 

The scenic walk to Three Cliffs Bay Beach may include rough terrain and is about 400 metres from the car park at Three Cliffs Holiday Park. You can also access the beach via a lengthy walk through Pennard Pill, with parking near the Gower Heritage Centre.

New Quay’s Harbour Beach is the seaside town’s main beach with powder-soft sand, and is neatly tucked below sloping terraces and sheltered by the harbour wall.

Home to Cardigan Bay Watersports, there’s plenty to keep the family entertained. Activities include windsurfing, kayaking, water-skiing, wakeboarding, powerboating and paddleboarding. 

Book a dolphin-spotting boat trip for the opportunity to spot the playful resident bottlenose dolphins and porpoises. Refresh hungry tummies after a day at the beach or browse the shops at one of New Quay’s plentiful cafes and restaurants.

Poppit Sands

Poppit Sands

Set on the outskirts of Cardigan Bay, this gorgeous dune-lined beach is Cardigan's closest beach. Take a seaside holiday here and explore this historic harbour and pretty market town. 

North-facing and sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly winds with an abundance of hard sand to play on, adventure seekers can enjoy thrilling activities such as kite buggying, landboarding, kitesurfing and power kiting.

Pendine Sands

Motorsport fans will love breathtaking Pendine Sands, famous for a series of land speed records, including those set in the 1920s with Sir Malcolm Campbell in ‘Bluebird’ and J.G. Parry Thomas in ‘Babs’. More recently in 2015, Idris Elba of Thor fame became the gatekeeper of another record and set a new land speed record in a Bentley Continental GT! The Museum of Land Speed  in Pendine offers an exhilarating exhibition displaying an array of motor cars and land speed memorabilia. 

Aside from its endless stretch of sand, Pendine is also home to a pleasant promenade to stroll along, with wonderful sea views and easy beach access. There’s also the beachfront Parry Thomas Centre where you can enjoy kayak hire, coffee, ice cream and a popular Asian fusion restaurant.

Also known as Cefn Sidan, this 8-mile stretch of pristine sand makes up the longest beach in Wales and was also the first beach in Wales to receive the renowned Blue Flag award. An excellent choice for long beach walks with your four-pawed pal! 

Pembrey Beach lies within Pembrey Country Park, an exciting outdoor adventure park home to amazing walking trails, mountain biking, a dry ski slope, a toboggan ride, plenty of places to eat, crazy golf, picturesque picnic areas, an equestrian centre and handfuls of family-friendly fun!

Lovely Llansteffan is a perfect beach for walkers and family picnics with a view. Explore this beautiful beach under the watchful eye of the imposing Llansteffan Castle which commands breathtaking views across the estuary.

Whilst Llansteffan is not a swimming beach, the fine golden sand is ideal for those very important sandcastle-building competitions. The beach is backed by a flat grassy area with picnic benches and a children’s play park, making Llansteffan a great beach for a family day out.
