Surf’s Up – Guide to the best surf beaches in Pembrokeshire

Pembrokeshire has some of the best surf beaches in the UK – see below for a list of the most popular with surfers:
Freshwater West – a fantastically wild beach is famed for its incredible surf which can reach up to 6ft and covers the whole bay. Home to the Welsh National Surfing Championships. Surf lessons available from Outer Reef.
Manorbier – good surfing conditions to the south end of the beach; suitable for beginners too.
Whitesands Bay – Car park, surf shop and lifeguards in summer – ideal for beginners.
Newgale – a long expansive beach with pebble bank; car parks, toilets, surf shop, pub and beach shop.
Broadhaven – car park, surf shop, hire service for wet suits, surf boards and kayaks.
Marloes – unspoilt, secluded beach; no facilities so not ideal for beginners but perfect for experienced surfers.
West Dale – main car park is half a mile away at Dale village; good waves with solid swells; recommended for experienced surfers only.
Tenby South – ideal during a big winter swell, the surfing conditions on Tenby South Beach occur just a couple of times a year. Recommended for experienced surfers only.
