A local's guide to coasteering in Pembrokeshire

Laura Mackenzie 02 August 2023

Pembrokeshire is not merely the UK's only national park that is designated for its coastal landscape, but it is also the birthplace of coasteering. And, with such an incredible coastline to explore, we can see why!

With beautiful Pembrokeshire beaches such as Barafundle Bay, an extensive coast path, an exceptional national park and plenty of pretty towns and villages, Pembrokeshire is a coastal haven.

Surfers in Pembrokeshire came up with the concept of coasteering in the 1980s as they adventured around Pembrokeshire’s cliffs. Today, coasteering has become popular with families and groups looking for adventure and fun with plenty of expert guides to show you how to safely enjoy this amazing activity.

Dive into our guide to coasteering Pembrokeshire where we look at the best places to enjoy coasteering in Pembrokeshire along with how to book your next action-packed venture.

What is coasteering?

In a nutshell, coasteering is an exciting group adventure where you safely explore a coastline at sea level on foot or by swimming, climbing, and jumping! But we'd go further and say it is an amazing experience, a thrilling adventure sport full of rock hopping, belly flopping, exploring sea caves, rock gully swimming, shore scrambling, sea level traversing, swell riding, rock climbing, and cliff jumping!
