Dog-Friendly Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards Inaugural Marketing Prize
We’re delighted to announce that we were yesterday crowned winners at the Dog-Friendly Pembrokeshire Tourism for ‘Best Dog-Friendly Marketing Campaign’, the first time this award has been given out.
The Awards themselves were well represented by both canine and human companions and held in the spectacular setting of the Slebech Park Estate, just outside Haverfordwest. The Awards were sponsored by Burns Pet Nutrition, and FBM Holidays ourselves sponsored the award for ‘Best Dog-Friendly Beach’ but to our surprise also walked away with the newest trophy on the roster, specific to running campaigns for dog-friendly marketing.
As a company in the holiday letting industry, we know that many households in the UK now keep pets, but that these animals are more than just a pet to their owners; they are part of the family. To that end, over the last few years, we have really cultivated an acceptance of our home-owners being dog-friendly and allowing dogs to stay at their holiday homes and apartments, and we are pleased that we now have over 70 properties – well over 20% of our entire portfolio – accepting dogs on their bookings.
Thom James, FBM Holidays Marketing Executive said “The dog and pet-friendly markets are vitally important and will continue to grow in the UK in general. Pembrokeshire, with so much natural beauty and open space, lends itself perfectly to encouraging and welcoming dogs to the area and allowing families to travel as a whole. We’re extremely proud to have been recognised for our efforts in developing a culture of dog-friendliness and we hope to see more and more of our owners embrace dogs as part of their environments within their holiday lets.”
Pembrokeshire Tourism has seen a huge amount of inquiry and interest from running what was the first ever dog-orientated tourism awards in 2017. 2018’s event was even more hotly contested, and all winners and nominees alike all brought something special to their categories, and to Pembrokeshire as a destination for dogs and their owners.
Once again, we’re incredibly proud of our achievements and will continue to market Pembrokeshire for the dog-friendly holiday destination that it is.
