Carmarthenshire is perfect for activity breaks as the Brecon Beacons are located on its eastern boundary and it has several forests including, Brechfa, which are playgrounds for mountain bikers, walkers and horse riders. Pembrey Country Park, 500 acres of woodland and together with eight miles of golden sands, is a fantastic place to try everything from GoApe, horse riding, off road biking and dry slope skiing.

For those looking for nature-based activities, the WWT Llanelli Wetlands Centre is a fantastic attraction for bird watching. While the rivers and estuaries within the county, such as the River Towy, offer opportunities for wildlife watching as well as fishing. The National Botanic Garden of Wales and British Bird of Prey Centre onsite hold events suitable for every age throughout the year.

Each town in Carmarthenshire is offers something different. Llandeilo is worth visiting for the fabulous eateries, boutiques and antique shops. Laugharne, which is famous for being home to Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse, has a thriving arts scene and castle whilst the county town, Carmarthen, is a great stop for food lovers and shopping. Llanelli offers the chance to immerse yourself in the world of the legendary Llanelli Scarlets and take a stroll along the Millennium Coastal Path. Be sure to check out the quirky events and festivals held throughout the year within the towns and across the county including Llandeilo Literary Festival.

There are plenty of attractions for children in Carmarthenshire which will both inspire and educate. Gwili Steam Railway, Dinefwr Park and Dolaucothi Gold Mines are just a few. The impressive castles standing proud around the county, including Kidwelly Castle, Llansteffan Castle and Carreg Cennen Castle will keep everyone entertained and offer some stunning views over the county.
