The race begins with a 2.4-mile sunrise swim on Tenby's North Beach before a 112-mile bike ride around the undulating Pembrokeshire hills, finally culminating in 26.2-mile, marathon-length run through Tenby’s town centre, which is packed with supporters and fans of the event. The fastest competitors will complete the course in around 9 hours; not only is it an achievement in itself to finish this event, but it also serves as a qualifier for the world championship in Hawaii.
