One of the main events of any holiday in the UK should be the Sunday lunch - an age-old tradition where you can enjoy good food and drink with friends and family all year round. 

The only downside, for some of us, is the mountain range of dishes we leave in a roast’s wake. After some thought, we’ve come to the conclusion that this is one of the reasons (yet not the top one) why a Sunday lunch down the pub has become something of an institution – who needs dirty plates to clean? Not us.  

When we are at home, we all have our favourite local to visit for a slap-up roast dinner, but when we are on holiday it’s more of a gamble. Well, we’ve done some of the research (and some of the eating) for you and compiled the top restaurants, pubs and hotels across Pembrokeshire where you can find a memorable Sunday lunch.

Hearty portions and homemade desserts swell the menu with a choice of poultry, beef, pork or vegetarian options. 

A leisurely walk around Carew Castle and Mill after lunch should add a nice finish to your Sunday lunch outing to The Carew Inn.

The Orangery at Trefloyne Manor

Enjoy a classy Sunday lunch at the terrace restaurant in Trefloyne Manor in Penally. 

Named The Orangery, it’s well-loved in the local area for its delicious, lazy-style, home-cooked Sunday lunch served from 12.30pm to 5pm. 

Both carnivores and herbivores are well-catered for here and the menu goes far beyond the carvery/roast options. 

Please book ahead to avoid missing out because The Orangery is popular all year round.

This award-winning tearoom at the Grandiflora & Bramleys Garden Centre in St Florence is renowned for its fabulous Sunday lunches, hearty home-cooked food and homemade desserts. 

In the week, it’s a pleasant diner to enjoy a coffee and a light lunch before browsing the beautiful, landscaped surroundings of the garden centre.

The Mulberry

The Mulberry is a cosy bistro-style restaurant close to the picturesque harbour of Saundersfoot. 

It’s a great choice for a laidback meal, in the summer and springtime you can dine outside and enjoy the views. 

Perfect for a relaxing Sunday lunch, light lunches and evening meals, the friendly service and location make this a superb choice when in Saundersfoot.

Billycan

The shiny, boutique restaurant of Billycan is close to the heart of the buzzy, seaside resort of Tenby. 

They offer a super-relaxed dining experience with a casual atmosphere. Their hearty Sunday lunch is fantastic and comes with all the trimmings – there’s also a bold menu full of pub classics and an innovative menu to choose from. 

You can also enjoy a cool drink at the bar, which offers an amazing array of craft ales and a diverse gin list.

The Stackpole Inn

A lovely traditional, award-winning village inn set in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. 

When visiting The Stackpole Inn, you can explore the Stackpole Estate, The Lily Ponds of Bosherston and the amazing Barafundle Bay and Broadhaven Beach, all of which are within walking distance or a very short drive.

Enjoy a cosy Sunday lunch at the charming, ivy-clad Brewery Inn. Tuck into some delicious, home-cooked food and a good selection of gorgeous puddings. 

Choose from some great Sunday roast options bolstered by tasty stuffing and massive Yorkshire puddings. The beer garden is a fantastic suntrap and a great spot to enjoy some outdoor dining when the sun is cracking the flags.

Tudor Lodge

Relax and enjoy a scrumptious Sunday lunch at this cosy county inn just a few miles outside Tenby and close to Manorbier with its imposing castle and a pretty beach.

The Tudor Lodge will tempt you in with promises of quality pub cuisine with a modern twist. 

Produce is provided from a local Pembrokeshire butcher, and the Sunday roast options are also joined on the menu by seasonal seafood specials.
