Popular with surfers, the beach is also a favourite for watersports enthusiasts. There are shops in Broad Haven village selling or hiring the right equipment and, if you are keen to learn, a surf school at Newgale beach (7.5 miles) offers lessons to young novices from age eight and family groups. Enjoy a walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in either direction and drink in amazing views all the way. Surrounded by towering sea cliffs, the island is a National Nature Reserve and one of the country’s finest wildlife sites, where you may spot Atlantic grey seals, dolphins and a host of sea birds. The boat trip from Martin’s Haven, near Dale (10 miles), takes just 15 minutes each way and visitors can spend 4.5 hours exploring this unspoiled refuge.
