Quaint, detached cottage set on the owners private reindeer retreat and small holding, yet close to the coast and resorts providing the perfect base for couples and families looking to get out and about to explore.

This cute cottage for six benefits from a quiet location in the heart of Carmarthenshire, just 5 miles from Kidwelly, with its welcoming community and a plethora of independent shops and restaurants. Enjoy a family day out to the glorious National Botanic Garden of Wales (12 miles) or head to Pembrey Country Park (10 miles) for 8 miles of golden sand, as well as a whole host of adrenaline-inducing activities. After all these excursions, head back to your enclosed garden for a BBQ with friends and family.

The pretty property, located on the owner’s small holding, is warm and welcoming. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is decorated in russet tones to create a cosy atmosphere, enhanced by the wood burner effect electric fire in the corner. After a busy day of sightseeing, curl up on the plump sofa with a glass of wine to read a book or watch a film on the TV/DVD. Come together around the farmhouse-style dining table for evenings of great food and laughter, sampling some of your tasty treats from your travels. Patio doors from the lounge lead to the large, enclosed garden, where you can fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco on warm summer nights.

Kidwelly is full of charm and is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon. Wander along the towpath of the oldest canal in Wales, explore the medieval castle and grab a bite to eat in one of the many restaurants which proudly serve traditional Welsh dishes and local produce. It’s easy to fill a day at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Marvel at the colourful horticultural displays, admire the Mediterranean landscape inside the famous glasshouse and, as the area is a Dark Sky Discovery Site, partake in a spot of stargazing. You’ll find plenty of family fun at Pembrey Country Park, including a dry ski slope, toboggan run and wildlife trail.

A really lovely cottage with a great garden and nice walk down to the river side. Spotlessly clean with everything you need. Friendly owners on site, happy to help with anything. Lovely seeing the animals there every day. We stayed for a week and were sad to have to leave. Lots to do nearby. We had a fabulous stay here with our grandchildren. They loved all the animals. Lovely big garden for them to play in. Lovely little walk down to the river. So peaceful. Will definitely return!

WE HAD A TERRIFIC HOLIDAY - WELCOMING HOSTS FOR WHOM NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH TROUBLE. A COZY AND COMFORTABLE COTTAGE WITH A VERY WELL EQUIPPED KITCHEN AND NICE ROOMS. ABSOLUTELY IDEAL FOR FOUR ADULTS AND TWO CHILDREN. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. The location is great for exploring. If you're a cyclist, there's a network of local sustran routes (4 and 47 spring to mind) and the stunning millenium coastal path which offers road free cycling for miles. Sandy, uncrowded beaches, castles, the naRead moretional botanic garden of wales, the wetlands centre at LLanelli means there's something for everyone. Our one wish-to have been able to stay longer. You couldn't ask for a better location than Barn Owl Cottage; with rolling fields all around it was very peaceful. The garden is great for kids and for enjoying the view. The animals are right next to the cottage and we enjoyed our evening walks to see them. The house was spotlessly clean and a great family space. Barn Owl Cottage is lovely. Beautiful countryside views. Very peaceful. We had everything we needed. Very clean and a warm welcome from our hosts.
