Just metres from a picturesque harbour, this sweet and cosy cottage makes a delightful holiday retreat for two. Originally built for workers in the local quarry, the cottage has been beautifully updated and tastefully decorated, and retains original exposed ceiling beams. Ideal for a couple exploring a spellbinding part of Pembrokeshire, this charming traditional cottage offers airy and refreshing holiday accommodation for keen walkers, water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. The cottage sits at the heart of Porthgain, a pretty hamlet ideally situated along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

The chic lounge provides a perfect space for relaxation at the end of a fantastic day, with cosy seating and a TV, so you can unwind with a good book or favourite movie. The stylish kitchen/diner is equipped with a useful range of accessories, and is beneath a traditional crog loft gallery. The ground floor also features a wet room. Following a substantial refurbishment in 2018, a new staircase leads up to the characterful mezzanine bedroom in the gallery, with a king-size bed, exposed beams and low sloping ceilings with restricted head height. Outside, a patio to the front of the property has outdoor furniture and makes a pleasant spot for a glass of wine in the evening as you listen to the waves lapping at the shoreline.

Porthgain is a thriving hamlet with a pub, restaurant and art galleries around the harbour, and is a popular spot for kayaking, as well as being a fantastic base for walkers. Local landmarks include the Blue Lagoon of Abereiddy (2 miles), the secluded beach of Traeth Llyfn (1 mile), Strumble Head Lighthouse (13 miles) and the mill at Melin Tregwynt (8 miles). Also within easy reach are the historic city of St Davids (8 miles) and the pretty seaside town of Fishguard (11.5 miles).

  • 1 bedroom - king-size – restricted height (sofa bed in lounge for alternate sleeping)
  • 1 shower room
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment and washing machine
  • Roadside parking subject to availability
  • Harbour, pub, restaurant and beach within walking distance

Cozy and comfortable cottage, very well equipped and in a beautiful location. Idyllic retreat for the two of us. Thoroughly enjoyed The Sloop pub and The Fish Shed, wonderful food in both. Fantastic walks just outside the door. We will return hopefully!

A cosy, welcoming, well appointed cottage. Perfect for exploring the St David's peninsula and Northern Pembrokeshire, or simply for relaxing and enjoying Porthgain, the coast path, and a pint or two in The Sloop. The owners couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome (the bread, butter, milk, and tea waiting for us made for perfect post-arrivalRead more tea and toast!), and were friendly and helpful . The bedroom does have restricted headroom, but I'm 6' 3" and managed to avoid banging my head! Hide

A 175 year old workers cottage built for practicality so is very small, still very nice & ideally situated for walks around Porthgain & visiting the Sloop & The Shed. The bedroom has been built into the roof space so there really is little headroom, at 5' 4" even I banged my head but you get used to it. My only complaint, the bathroom is not very iRead morenviting, looks & feels dated, it is small but that wasn't an issue it could do with new tiling & the sofa isn't very comfy. The cottage had everything we needed. It was comfortable, warm and cozy. The location was perfect. A bistro and a great pub literally steps away from our front door. The Pembrokeshire coastline also passed within yards of the house. Literally perfection.

Such a lovely little village, and the cottage is perfect. Excellent facilities, it's got everything to make it cosy and comfortable. And there's a path just yards from the cottage leading up to the coast path on the cliffs.

A perfect cottage for two. Much bigger inside than it looks from the road. Very comfortable and well equipped with all you need. Only problem of which we were aware are the beams in the bedroom although ok if you take care. Great position on coastal path and for The Sloop and The Shed!!! A great place for a relaxing week away.
