The town itself, once famous for smuggling, fishing and wooden boatbuilding, is a great place to sit and enjoy an ice cream while looking out for the resident bottlenose dolphins. Today, New Quay is home to a range of welcoming local pubs, shops and restaurants and the whole area is crisscrossed by countryside trails and coastal paths leading to dramatic cliff-top scenery. The Cardigan Bay Watersports Centre is located in the harbour, where you can experience a number of adventurous activities such as kayaking, paddle-boarding and sailing.
