Property code: OC-HH701

A homely holiday cottage on the coast, split across two storeys and an excellent base for a group of friends or families seeking a special seaside getaway. Located in the quiet village of Horton on the Gower Peninsula, there’s a nearby tea room and chocolate shop (both less than 0.5 miles). In the neighbouring village, Port Eynon (0.5 miles), there are a handful of shops and pubs. The beaches in these two villages are popular with surfers, so don’t forget to bring your wetsuit.

This cottage oozes charm, felt from the moment you step inside. The kitchen boasts a characterful stone floor and farmhouse-style, single-wall fitted units with wooden surface tops. From the back of the room, you can benefit from an unobstructed view through to the glass french door, which leads out onto the garden. To the left of the room, there is a table and chairs for six people to dine at after cooking a hearty meal on the Range cooker. Continue into the open-plan living/dining room, which has a rustic feel from the contemporary lighting and natural dark wooden furnishings. If you’d like a change from the kitchen dining option, the spacious wooden dining table in this room is an excellent choice for a more formal occasion. Inside the living area, you will find a large wooden chest and an L-shaped leather sofa to sink into in front of the TV while you warm your toes in front of the crackling wood burner. A separate WC is also on the first floor. Climb the stairs to reach the first floor and find four bedrooms and a family bathroom. The bathroom boasts sleek and stylish dark, tiled flooring and walls, a spacious walk-in rainfall shower, and a free-standing, rolltop bath to relax and rejuvenate. The romantic master bedroom boasts a super-king-size bed and wooden shutters on the double-aspect windows, which look out onto the beach. The second bedroom also boasts sea views and has a king-size bed. The third bedroom is a double, and the fourth offers space to sleep three on a bunk bed and a separate single bed.

To the rear of the property, you’ll find a spacious garden with a patio area accessed via the lounge or kitchen. If the weather permits, the large bench is an excellent space for enjoying the company of your guests while dining alfresco. The garden also has a large grassy area lined by fencing and hedgerow.

This property and our stay was faultless, the house has everything you would need, its comfortable, warm and well equipped. The location is spot on for the beach and walking routes and the area is beautiful. we did lots of local walks and more often than not ended up in The Ship, which is a proper country pub with superb food. There were 7 of us, wRead morehich was 5 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog and everyone of us enjoyed this house and we would happily pay a return visit to this house as it was faultless. How anyone can find fault with this house and location is beyond me, it felt like a home away from home. Perfect. Hide

We loved the location of this property as it's so close to the beach. We all slept incredibly well & loved the log burner in the evenings after stormy days at the beach.

As a whole we were delighted to stay at this property. The garden was fantastic and secure which was perfect for the toddler in our party. The location is phenomenal and close to local amenities as well as the beach. We will definitely be returning!

The house is perfectly located for the beach. It is easy to pop back to the house. Port Eynon (and ice cream and fish and chips) is a short walk along the boardwalk.

We enjoyed the holiday, however the standard of cleaning was inconsistent. The bedrooms were good, the bedding excellent. Unfortunately the kitchen appeared to have only been surface-wiped. There were marks on the table-cloth, the plate rack was very dirty (we cleaned it), drawers, cupboard doors and freezer drawers needed deeper cleaning. The cookRead moreer was good. In the bathroom we had to be careful because we found a deep crack in the toilet seat; we reported this when we left. The bathroom wastebin didn't contain a liner and was dirty. On inspection it appeared that someone had spat some rice in there; we disinfected this and cleaned with boiling water. For your information we reported that the lounge door lock was broken; had the door been shut we would have been locked inside! We removed the lock and left with note for the cleaners to find. Hide
