Property code: OC-HH2123

This traditional cottage has plenty of period charm and is set in one of the South Gower’s most picturesque villages, which has thatched roof cottages, an interesting Saxon church and a fortified Tudor manor house incorporating a 14th-century castle. You’re less than a quarter of a mile from Oxwich Bay, a wide expanse of sandy beach set in a nature reserve with cliffs at one end and backed by sand dunes, marsh and woodlands. You can explore the reserve on two circular walking trails; look out for wild orchids in late May and June and birdlife including wildfowl, ducks and moorhens. The ruins of the 12th-century Pennard Castle (8 miles) have sweeping views of Three Cliffs Bay (4 miles), which is another scenic beach with sand dunes, salt marsh and three limestone cliffs.

The property consists of two previously separate cottages, linked by a door in the living room, which has sofas, armchairs and a traditional oil burning stove. The spacious kitchen has an oil-fired Aga and an extendable dining table seating 12, and the utility room houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer. A bedroom on the ground floor has twin beds and an electric fireplace. Three bedrooms on the first floor comprise a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a double bedroom and another bedroom with bunk beds. The other side of the property, accessed through the interconnecting door, has another living area with an open fire, a small kitchen and a bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. Upstairs, are a king-size bedroom, a twin bedroom and a shower room.

The well-maintained garden features a lawn with several steps, and a sheltered outside area with chairs and a chiminea.

Bull Croft Cottage is in an amazing location, very close to Oxwich Bay. It sleeps 12 comfortably and the owners left a bed for an extra child. The secluded garden and seating was excellent for a picnic lunch. The local shop was very useful for milk and Welsh cakes as well as selling a fantastic selection of ice creams.

The cottage is a bit shabby - this was not a problem for us with lots of children but some people might not find it so appealing. The Aga may also be a problem for others - we have one so are used to them! But, please supply an oven glove, getting heavy pans out of an Aga with small children around with a thin T towel is not fun!!!

Bull Croft Cottage is in an excellent location, very close to the beach, ideal for our families and their 4 young children. Although in the centre of Oxwich it was very peaceful. The cottage is spacious and comfortable with a homely feel. It has a good combination of rooms to accommodate an extended family group. The garden is large enough and safeRead more for children to play in. My only complaint is with regard to the arrangements for rubbish and re-cycling. Not all the correct bags and bins were supplied and the calendar for collection days was out of date. Hide
