This comfortable two-bedroom cottage is located on a quiet cul-de-sac in Mumbles, Swansea Bay, and is a great base for a couple or small family wanting to be close to both amenities and the sea. Mumbles village, just over 300 metres from the house, is a vibrant place with a good selection of shops, galleries, restaurants, and parlours selling first-class ice cream. It also features a Victorian pier, an 18th-century lighthouse, a 12th-century castle, and a 5-mile seafront promenade that stretches around the bay to Swansea Marina. Mumbles marks the beginning of the Gower Peninsula’s coastline and hikers can pick up the Wales Coast Path from the village and enjoy scenic walks including the 12.5-mile walk along cliff paths and beaches to Three Cliffs Bay.

On the ground floor, the open-plan living area is adorned with cheerful furnishings, and a wood burner in the lounge makes things cosy on chilly nights. The lounge is the ideal room to relax in, and huge sofas invite you to sit and chat with friends and family or simply curl up and watch a film on the TV. A dining table, seating four people, overlooks the lounge and is perfect for creating intimate meals while a large window drenches the whole space in uplifting, natural light. Homely touches include soft cushions on the sofa and artwork on the walls. Off from the living area is a kitted-out kitchen with patio doors leading out to the garden. From the living area, a staircase sweeps up to the first floor where the two bedrooms are located. Featuring a double bed and twin beds, the rooms are light and airy and adorned with heavy drapes, ambient lighting, and ample wardrobe space. The double bedroom has a pretty Juliet balcony that overlooks the rear garden. There’s also a bathroom and a separate shower room on this floor.

Back on the ground floor, the kitchen patio doors lead out onto a decked area with steps down to a patio dotted with potted plants, shrubs, and trees. Enjoy a quiet coffee at the garden table or simply sit back, relax and feel the sun on your face.

Oyster Cottage was a perfect home-from-home for our family holiday. The little details like finding family games in the drawers, a well-sized bathroom with a bath and quiet location made it ideal for a break with young children. The fantastically well equipped kitchen also made it possible for cooking family meals at home with little fuss. A super Read moreplace to stay! Hide

My 2 adult sons & I loved staying in this spacious cottage with our yorkie. It was very clean, comfortable & homely with lovely views of the castle & bay. The garden is pretty & has a deck where we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine during the evening. It has great amenities & is close to a variety of shops. We hope to stay here again another year.

Parking is the major issue, with very narrow road access and parking of neighbours cars. The step down floor to the rear bedroom is dangerous, the floors upstairs are creaky and the door handles are noisy which makes it difficult when getting up in the night without disturbing friends. Also, the bathroom needs a proper shower over the bath

The cottage was lovely and in a perfect position. On street parking was a big bonus, and a great pub a couple of minutes walk away was also fantastic. The beds were comfortable, the cottage was warm, the showers were hot and everything was lovely and clean. The one thing we were not so keen about was the online instruction manual. We later founRead mored one in the cottage but initially thought that the online one was the only one. I also did not like having to pay an extra 20 for insurance. It should be included in the price. These are two minor gripes though. Hide

The house was in a convenient location and the garage was a big bonus. I think a welcome tray with a pint of milk would have been useful and also feel it unreasonable that no toilet rolls were supplied but hope that was a oversight.
