From the property, it’s 0.5 miles to Mumbles. The village is a lovely place to spend a day and is packed with independent shops, boutiques, bars, and restaurants. History lovers can visit Oystermouth Castle, an impressive Norman fortress, or head 1 mile from the property to the 18th-century lighthouse. Other activities include a 1-mile walk to the beach at Rotherslade Bay while surfers can enjoy the waves at neighbouring Langland Bay.

A few steps lead up to the stable-door entrance of this pastel-coloured cottage. Inside, the open-plan living area is a light and breezy space. Creamy tones and wood-panelled flooring create a soothing atmosphere and two plump sofas in the lounge invite you to sit and relax with a good book or film on the TV. It’s the perfect place to unwind and there’s also a pretty window seat where you can simply sit and be mesmerised by the sea views. The lounge sweeps through to a dining area, featuring a table seating four people, while the separate kitchen is kitted out with all the appliances, you’ll need to whip up a meal. Stairs lead from the living area to the first floor where the two bedrooms are located. Featuring a king-size four-poster bed, and twin beds, the rooms are fuss-free. Homely extras include wardrobe space, ambient lighting, and a selection of decorative items, as well as elegant floor-to-ceiling windows. A well-presented family bathroom is also on this floor.

Lovely cottage. Small but compact. In good location for Mumbles shops and for beaches (on the other side of the hill, in easy walking distance). Note that the nearby roads are narrow and steep. However the parking space is flat and there is enough room to turn a small car around outside the cottage. We didn't use the car much during our week oRead moref sunshine and showers, but we had a day trip to Rhossili and that is definitely recommended. Hide

Periwinkle Cottage is a quaint, cosy and comfy cottage in a fantastic location perfect for exploring Mumbles and the rest of the Gower Peninsula. We loved Mumbles and thought it a wonderful place for families. Having a sea view was a plus, as was private parking outside the property - this doesnt seem common in Mumbles and its an advantage, especiaRead morelly given the steep climb up to the cottage, which is set on a hill. The garden/outside area, however, as well as being in need of attention, was hard to access, with narrow steep steps making it a challenge for anyone older, someone with any mobility issues or those with young children.
