This spacious rural property, sleeping four guests, is perfectly placed as a holiday base to explore the glorious beaches and coastal scenery of Pembrokeshire. Saundersfoot (4.5 miles), offers a long, sandy beach in the heart of the village, with safe swimming in sheltered waters, as well as space for canoeing, kayaking and other water sports. There is a busy working harbour where you can buy fresh-caught fish or book boat trips around Carmarthen Bay, and the village has a good range of shops selling local produce, cafes and restaurants. At the end of the main beach, you can join the coastal path which runs along the route of an old railway line. This leads to further sandy beaches with rock pools and the hamlet of Wiseman’s Beach (2 miles), where a popular pub overlooks the sea – ideal for a reviving drink. Or, head for the seaside town of Tenby for a 4.5-mile walk along clifftop paths with glorious views all the way. Tenby’s medieval walls, cobbled streets and brightly painted period house give the town a Mediterranean air, together with its three beautiful beaches. For a walk with a difference, visit magnificent Carew Castle and Tidal Mill (4.5 miles). The great castle, historic mill, and an 11th-century bridge are all linked by a 1-mile circular path that takes in splendid views over Carew Millpond. There is a tearoom on site and the path is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Enter through the side door to the living room which has large patio doors leading out to a sitting area in front of the house. Comfortably furnished with two leather sofas piled with cushions, this is a welcoming spot for relaxing and watching the TV and DVD player in front of the large wood burner. Small stained-glass windows, a cottage-style latticed window and a fine grandfather clock add interest to this welcoming room, while a large rug adds a cosy touch to the pale wooden floors. An impressive pair of curved, medieval-style wooden doors open to the spacious kitchen and a dramatic spiral staircase leading up to the first floor. The kitchen has the same attractive wooden flooring, and wood is also used for the fitted units and round dining table and chairs. A period sewing machine adds a homely note. Also on the ground floor are a utility room and cloakroom with a WC. Upstairs, the use of wood enhances the country theme, with finely crafted wooden doors and a splendid bed frame for the king-size bedroom, which has its own TV. Patio doors open to a pretty balcony with a table and chairs – ideal for a peaceful drink or meal. An attractively furnished twin bedroom has a charming, latticed window and a TV. The sleek, contemporary bathroom completes the accommodation.
The gravel area in front of the living room patio doors has garden furniture, sheltered by the balcony above. Narrow wooden steps to the rear lead to a gate giving private access to a park area with a playground.
