This characterful family property sleeping four guests is ideal for a holiday that combines fun beach days with beautiful coastal walks and outings. Visit majestic St Davids Cathedral – built in 1181, the cathedral is the fourth church on this historic site. Not to be missed is a wildlife adventure boat trip to offshore Ramsey Island, looking out for seals, dolphins and puffins along the way. Whitesands Bay, just outside the city, has a fine sandy beach and is a top favourite for surfers, and there is another lovely beach at nearby Caerfai Bay (3 miles). Lovely walks abound and you can reach the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast Path by walking just 0.5 miles from the cottage across three fields. Test your mettle on a TYF Adventure Day based in St Davids. Whether you prefer a gentle introduction to kayaking, surfing, climbing and coasteering, or opt for an adrenalin rush, the rugged and beautiful surroundings of the Pembrokeshire coast are a great place to try it. Visit Melin Tregwynt, a whitewashed mill hidden in a valley at Castle Morris (11 miles) where Welsh woollens have been woven since the 17th-century. Tour the mill, owned by the same family for more than a century, and see blankets, throws and cushions, together with clothing, all created in timeless designs.

Rustic beams, deep-set windows within thick walls and sloping ceilings offer clues to this appealing semi-detached property’s history. The cosy living room has plenty of comfortable seating, ideal for relaxing after a day of sea and country air. There is a TV with DVD and CD players, and the room features works by local artists. Keen cooks will enjoy preparing meals in the spacious kitchen, which has a good-sized wooden dining table and chairs, with a tiny, original window immediately behind. Stairs from the living room lead to two lovely bedrooms. These comprise one double and one twin, simply furnished in a cottage style, with wooden floors and sloping ceilings. The charming family bathroom has a shower over the bath, and has a sloping ceiling.

Outside, a sunny rear patio enclosed by fencing has garden furniture and a raised grass area with a clothes line. There is also a large, beautiful pond on the farm, full of wildife – please keep an eye on children and pets when near the pond.

It was what we expected and hoped, and a great base from which to explore the beautiful area and coastline. A very warm welcome from the hosts, and ideal kitchen and yard for a dog.

The cottage had everything that was needed for a lovely stay. It was very well equipped. It was warm and very comfortable. Location was a little further away from things than expected but none the less, we enjoyed. Ideal for our dogs too. Gwyliau braf. Diolch.
