Walk to the beach from this gem of a cottage, a perfect getaway for a couple and two dogs. Based in the historic village of Llansaint, it has heaps of traditional character and a cosy wood burner, too. Historic features such as exposed stone walls and original beams give this welcoming terraced cottage a unique appeal.
The cottage’s open-plan lounge/diner is the place to relax in front of the wood burner with a book, or catch up on your favourite TV series. At the far end of the room (and also accessed by a serving hatch) is a hand-built kitchen that’s full of character and provides everything you’ll need to prepare holiday meals. You can also dine in the conservatory extension, enjoying views of the garden. A wooden staircase takes you to the first floor where you’ll find the king-size bedroom (spot the cockle shells embedded in its walls) with a Smart TV, plus an en-suite bathroom which boasts sea views. From the conservatory, a hallway (also used by a neighbouring holiday cottage) leads to the shared back garden. This has a patio with furniture and a charcoal BBQ, making it the ideal place for dogs to zoom around safely while you relax in the fresh air.
This pretty cottage is only 2 miles from the historic market town of Kidwelly, where you’ll find a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants, all overlooked by one of Wales’s finest Norman castles. Admire the stunning views from Llansteffan Castle, reached by ferry from Ferryside (2 miles), or enjoy a day at the races – Ffos Las Racecourse is just 6.5 miles. Feeling active? You can hike around the coastline of beautiful Carmarthen Bay, cycle the trails of Pembrey Country Park (7 miles), or play a round at Glyn Abbey Golf Club (6.5 miles).
