Newport Sands boasts 1 mile of glorious golden sand, so it’s easy to find your own little space to set up camp and spend the day at the seaside. The beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts, who enjoy sailing, kayaking and canoeing in the calm waters. From here, it’s easy to join the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which you can follow to St Dogmaels and the fabulous beach of Poppit Sands (14 miles). For spectacular views over Pembrokeshire, climb to the summit of Carningli Mountain, which towers over Newport. Steeped in mystery and legend, the walk will take you past a wishing well, stone ramparts and the fascinating remains of some hut circles.
