Pull on your hiking boots or jump on a mountain bike and weave your way along the way-marked trails of the Brechfa Forest, stopping off for a bite to eat at one of the picturesque picnic spots. It’s easy to fill a day wandering around Carmarthen, the oldest town in Wales. Take the history trail at the Roman amphitheatre, investigate the ruins of the 12th-century castle, and pick up some delicious Welsh produce at the bustling indoor market. On a hot day, head to Cenarth Falls (20 miles).
