Stepaside and Pleasant Valley

Stepaside is a small hamlet in Pembrokeshire 6 miles north of Tenby, and belongs to the community of Amroth. Many years ago it was a hive of industrial activity after the Pembrokeshire Iron and Coal Company built the Kilgetty Ironworks here in 1848 but ceased operating in 1888. It is believed that Stepaside got its name from when Oliver Cromwell and his army passed through the village and asked people to step aside so that he could continue his journey to Pembroke. The Old Tramway is a level gravel pathway that runs from Stepaside starting at the Heritage Park to Wisemans Bridge, a popular shortcut to the beach and Wisemans Bridge Inn suitable for bicycles, pushchairs, and wheelchairs. The village of Kilgetty is only a short drive away and has a number of shops and a large supermarket. Stepaside is convenient for visiting many of the coastal villages and enjoying the many restaurants, cafes, and pubs in the area.

The peaceful hamlet of Stepaside is located just a mile from the coastal hamlet of Wiseman’s Bridge and about two miles from the pretty seaside village of Amroth. In a tranquil country setting, Stepaside is perfect for a relaxing, get away from it all holiday, yet still within easy reach of all the holiday activities at the larger resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot and the numerous tourist attractions and theme parks in the area.

Once a thriving industrial area during the height of the local coal mining and ironworks industry in the late 1800s, Stepaside is now a popular holiday area, with fabulous woodland and country walks and an abundance of wildlife to be discovered in this tranquil corner of Pembrokeshire. Being just a short distance from the coast, Stepaside is popular with holidaymakers who want the best of both coast and country in an unspoiled, tranquil location.

The nearby village of Kilgetty provides for all your shopping needs and also has a selection of food and takeaway outlets.

We have a great choice of top quality cottages, modern houses and luxury lodges to rent in Stepaside, so take a look and book your perfect holiday or short break in Pembrokeshire with us today.
