Property code: SKN10

This characterful converted Grade 2 listed barn is set in a quiet valley on the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park, with market towns, outdoor thrills and beautiful landscapes all within easy reach.

Tucked away in the hamlet of Abercegir, this charming cottage is just a short distance from the unrivalled scenery of Snowdonia National Park and the many outdoor activities it offers, including walking, mountaineering and mountain biking. The town of Machynlleth can be found five miles away, and has a choice of places to eat and drink, as well as a weekly street market and a treasure trove of independent shops. Fifteen miles away is the harbour town of Aberdovey, surrounded by some of the finest beaches in Wales, looking out onto Cardigan Bay. You can also take in the local scenery on a ride onboard a narrow-gauge railway – try the Talyllyn or the Corris railways.

Upon entering the property, you will be greeted by the cosy lounge, complete with original wooden beams. Here you can curl up on the seating and warm up next to the lovely wood burner (initial supply of logs provided). An additional space for relaxing can be found in the mezzanine area, where there is more comfortable seating, a desk and a TV/DVD. TV signal is not available, however, there is a wide selection of DVDs, books and games to choose from providing plenty of entertainment. The heart of the property is the kitchen/diner, complete with oak fixtures and everything you need to fully enjoy your stay including a double oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer, as well as an iPod dock so you can listen to music while you cook. The dining area, found in the adjoining conservatory area, seats six and there is also a breakfast bar with seating for two, ideal for more casual occasions. Beneath the mezzanine, you’ll find the first of the property’s three bedrooms: a double. A few more steps down lead to the master bedroom and the third bedroom, both with king-size beds. The master bedroom also enjoys an en-suite wet room with WC. Between the two other bedrooms you will find the family bathroom featuring a bath with shower over and WC – please be careful of the sloped ceiling, the room has low head height.

The conservatory leads out to the beautiful garden, beginning with a patio area complete with deckchairs. Steps from the patio take you down to the rest of the garden, with a lawn and decked area, which features a large table and chairs and BBQ perfect for dining al fresco. There is also a gentle stream which marks the border of the bottom of the garden. Ample parking for several cars is available around the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Wonderful cottage, very tastefully converted from the barn. Spacious lounge with plenty of comfy seating. Large, very well equipped kitchen. Large enclosed garden which was great for the dogs to run and play. We loved this cottage and had a great time exploring the area and doing lots of walking.

We enjoyed a very pleasant week at Spring Barn despite the rainy weather. It is a nice cottage with a lovely garden and close to a town with everything you could need. We booked this cottage to walk snowdon and it was a little further away than expected but that is our fault for not doing enough research! The inside could be comfier and the cottage isnt quite as isolated as you would think (you share a drive with neighboRead moreurs) but the views from the garden do make up for it. Hide

We fully recommend this property, our family of 5 stayed here for a week and loved every minute. The property amenities are as described in the booking info, with lots of extras. The tranquil setting is a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of life, however all the local shops are literally 10 mins drive away.

Lovely, idyllic cottage in a tucked away location. Beautifully presented and a warm welcome provided by thoughtful touches on arrival. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well supplied and stream at the bottom of the garden was great fun for the kids. Location was 20 to 45 minutes from anything you might want to do in the way of activities and a gooRead mored restaurant in the local town made this a great week away. Hide

We've had a great week in a lovely barn conversion with a great garden, in an unspoiled valley location. Spring Barn is clean, well equipped and a perfect size for a family holiday away. There are plenty of great walks straight out of the door and lots to visit by car, on the coast, or in Snowdonia. As can sometimes happen when renting a 'remote' hRead moreome, we had a tiny issue with a tripped fuse but the helpful owners had everything sorted straight away. A great week in a great place! Hide
