Charming first-floor apartment suitable for a couple, situated behind a shop in the pretty town of New Quay on the West Wales coast, just a short walk from one of the town's two sandy beaches.

This quirky romantic bolthole for two, in the idyllic coastal town of New Quay, is the perfect base for exploring the breathtaking Cardigan Bay. Wander along the town’s sandy shores, watch dolphins playing beyond the harbour wall or take a boat trip along the fascinating heritage coast. The vibrant university town of Aberystwyth (24 miles) makes a great day out, with a plethora of delicious eateries and independent shops to browse. Head home to the decked veranda and enjoy drinks in the sun.

Take the stairs to the decked veranda of this unique property and enter the gorgeous open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The property is decorated in a seafaring theme, with a range of intriguing nautical accessories creating a truly unique backdrop for your holiday. The stylish bedroom – designed to look like a ship’s cabin – is absolutely beautiful and when you wake up, you’ll be greeted with stunning sea views, inspiring you to get out and explore. After a cosy dinner for two at the dining table, head out onto the veranda for a little sundowner and the chance to reminisce about your day.

It’s easy to while away the hours pottering around New Quay. Soak up the holiday atmosphere with a stroll along the beach and around the pretty harbour, following in the footsteps of Dylan Thomas, who once inhabited the town. Hop on one of the many boats that depart from the harbour for a magical wildlife-watching trip along the coast, looking for dolphins playing in the water and seals basking in the sunshine. From New Quay, it’s easy to visit the vibrant town of Cardigan (21 miles). Full of history, this fascinating town boasts a fabulously restored Norman castle, stunning river walks and a colourful high street with numerous independent boutiques and galleries.

What a wonderful little holiday retreat, right in the center of New Quay, highly recomended. The decor is fab, it was clean, tidy and cosy. The floors do creak, but, I think it adds to the Captains Cabin ambience. You also have to be aware that it is above a working shop, (it didnt bother us ) and next to a wine bar, but everything was quiet by 9pmRead more, it was just perfect. Thank you x Hide

We loved the cottage. Very quirky yet cosy. Great position in the centre of town, near to all the lovely restaurants, pubs and shops. The seating area on the balcony was fantastic, it was basked in sun all day. We spent several hours out there playing cards over a bottle of wine. Could have done with a lighter duvet, it was a bit too heavy for summRead moreer. The bath was wonderful & plenty of hot water. Car park is close & no problem finding a space, despite it being busy. We really enjoyed our week in captains cabin, loved all quirkyness and even got used to the squeaky floor boards, lovely location l, lovely pasties and ice cream and good fish and chips from the lime crab, we would definitely return to captains cabin

Great location, was very pleased to have an outside space to enjoy the sunshine and it was ideal to have a dishwasher! Beautiful walks nearby and the bath is a great size! Would definitely return. Just prepare yourself for especially creaky floorboards!

Book the cabin and stay right in the heart of new quay, literally everything is on your doorstep. We have been staying at the cabin for the last fifteen years and have never had any problems with anything. Fantastic place and we will definitely be staying in the cabin next year. Russ and Julie

We thoroughly enjoy our stay a the Captain's Cabin.The quirkiness and the decor of the rooms we brilliant.The location of the property was spot on,ideal situation for everything in Newquay. We parked our car at the church road car park all week for 10.90 .We didn't use it the rest of the week.just walked and used the bus. Excellent views from the hRead morearbour,enjoyed watching the dolphins in the harbour too. Will definitely return.Thank you Hide

Beautiful location. Clean cabin with very creaky flooring, high bed and bath making it difficult for those not agile. Nice sunny balcony to escape the creaky floor. Just around the corner from the beach and plenty eating out facilities on your doorstep and local shops.

We loved our stay here. Captain's Cabin is very roomy and has lots of storage space. The bed is comfy so is the sofa and chair. The balcony is a lovely sun trap. It is in THE most convenient location, a short walk to everything! Beach, shops, restaurants etc. The meat from the butchers was all delicious and our hosts were very helpful. Floorboards Read morea bit squeaky everywhere but hey ho! Would definitely stay here again. Hide

This property is well placed and a comfortable base from which to explore New Quay and surroundings. The landlord was very helpful and his butcher shop is stocked with goodies. Lovely area.
