If you’re looking for the perfect cosy and romantic getaway, then look no further. Located on a family farm/smallholding in Carmarthen, Wales, this self-catering barn conversion is the perfect escape, ideal for those who are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.  Cynwyl Elfed is a small picturesque town located in the county of Carmarthenshire and situated in a rural area surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. It's known for its scenic beauty, peaceful atmosphere and is steeped in history, with one of it's most notable landmarks being the 12th Century church. Newcastle Emlyn (5 miles) has shops, a small supermarket, pubs, fish & chips, chemists and much more. There are some lovely beaches within a 13 mile scenic drive - Aberporth, Cardigan, Poppit sands, to name few and Tresaith which has a waterfall right on the beach! Just 3 miles away is the Carmarthen Golf Club, with outstanding views of the surrounding Welsh mountains and countryside. Further afield are many other wonderful places to visit, including Cardigan Castle (16 miles) St Davids Cathedral (45 miles) or catch the ferry across to Caldey Island from Tenby (32 miles) and enjoy a day exploring this fascinating island full of history and wonderful sea views.

Upon entrance to the warm welcoming apartment, you enter straight in to the hallway, where you can hang up your coats and kick off your shoes at the end of a busy day, or dry off the dog after a lovely countryside walk. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining room has a comfortable corner sofa that surrounds the Smart TV, perfect for a film night, or even a night of playing board games. Featuring a log burner in the corner of the room, this is the perfect space to relax and unwind during your getaway. The kitchen space has everything you could need to self-cater, where you can either sit at the breakfast bar at the coffee bar, or relax with your dinner at the dining table. Through from the kitchen completing the property is the gorgeous spacious double bedroom, which benefits from a lovely ensuite shower room with walk in shower, sink and WC.

Outside is a beautiful, spacious, secluded, secure courtyard area with a raised decked dining/seating area. Perfect for a morning cup of coffee and croissant, or summer evening meal al fresco with a glass of wine, enjoying the peace and quiet of the rural countryside, or relaxing in the hot tub.

We stayed for a week at Dairy Cottage with our dog and it was outstanding. The owners are extremely welcoming and did everything possible to make sure that everything went smoothly. The cottage itself is set in an amazing location and the hot tub was great to sit in every night to relax. The property is completely self contained so you have all Read morethe privacy you would expect. The cottage is located in a central location in Carmarthenshire allowing easy travel to many incredible places. When we arrived there was Towel Swans along with complimentary items to greet us. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. We will definitely be returning in the future! Hide

Very lovely and peaceful area. Beautiful little cottage with a nice fully enclosed garden (we have an escape artist and he didn't find anywhere to escape). Lovely property inside as well, very clean and it felt like it was completely private. Really enjoyed our stay and would come back again!

The property offers a really great base to explore the coast whilst private and secluded. The host just leaves you be but is there should you need anything, the paddock is a huge bonus for the dog to have a run. We loved the hot tub too.

We wanted to say a huge thank you as weve had a lovely stay at a superbly presented and excellently appointed Dairy Cottage retreat at Black Lion Cynwylelfed, Carmarthenshire, owned by a lovely couple. We could not have enjoyed our holiday more. We would thoroughly recommend a visit. Its located within about half an hour of several different townsRead more and attractions (such as the botanic garden and steam railway) but far enough away so, when back at the cottage, you can enjoy the solitude and view in peace. The hot tub was a surprising extra we had not been expecting and we made great use of it in the evenings. On arrival, our hosts had left us teats for our little dog which was a lovely touch. A definite 10 out of 10. Hide
