Exciting event in Cardiff this Spring Bank Holiday

The Volvo Ocean Race 2018

If you are holidaying in Wales this year during 27th May to 10th June then a visit to the Volvo Ocean Race in Cardiff is well worth a visit. During the Spring Bank Holiday week the city of Cardiff will host the Volvo Ocean Race (previously known as the Whitbread Round the World Race) and this will be the first time this event has visited the UK in more than a decade.

The Race Village will open on 27th May and will have some really cool experiences to try out and where you can discover more about life on the ocean wave for the intrepid sailors and the challenges they face on this round the world race. Get a true feel of what life is like for the crews and skippers; get up close and personal with the actual race boats; visit The Globe to discover more about the growing problem of plastic pollution in our oceans; explore the Race Boat Experience for yourself and see if you’ve got what it takes to be a Volvo Ocean Race sailor with the Grinding Challenge.

This promises to be a superb event where you will not only learn about ocean racing, but also about the environment and how we can all help to save and protect our precious planet. The whole family will enjoy this exciting event, so don’t miss out and make sure you put this event in your holiday diary for 2018.
