Free things to do near Broad Haven…

Visit Broad Haven & Little Haven

With a wealth of beautiful beaches and the fabulous Pembrokeshire Coast Path on our doorstep, there is plenty to do in Pembrokeshire which costs absolutely nothing.

In Broad Haven and Little Haven, located in St. Brides Bay in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the beaches are perfect for lazy days spent building sandcastles, jumping the waves, rock pooling or flying a kite.

Broad Haven beach at low tide is a huge expanse of firm sand, perfect for beach games, building sand castles (or if you are really creative, some sand sculptures) and kite flying. And the waters at this Blue Flag Award beach are perfect for swimming – another free activity!

Little Haven is a smaller beach and is popular with boat enthusiasts as it has a slipway. The sandy rocky beach is perfect for rock pooling and even a spot of fishing – you may be lucky and catch a free fish supper!

Walking is another great free activity (healthy too) and the coastal path around this area is perfect – the red sandstone cliffs provide fabulous colour too. From Little Haven you can take the coast path towards St Brides which gives a 5 mile walk taking in some steep hills for an extra fitness boost.

The fabulous coastal scenery is ideal for photography buffs, and also a great place for spotting birds and wildlife – migrating sea birds in the spring and seal spotting in the autumn. The coast path is also a superb location to discover the many different wild flowers and plants which grow in abundance along the headlands and clifftops.

There are some lovely sheltered bays in this area and when the tide is right out its possible to walk from Broad Haven beach along to Little Haven, passing via a small bay known as The Settlands.

Cycling is also an enjoyable free activity so bring your bikes and explore the lovely country lanes and pretty villages along the coastline. Or stop off at an art gallery and browse the wonderful work of local artists – the Boathouse Gallery in Little Haven is perfect. Entry is free although you may well be tempted to purchase something once inside!

With a little imagination and a willing spirit you can enjoy a fun filled holiday experience for next to nothing in one of the most beautiful parts of the world right here in Pembrokeshire.
