Don’t leave home without the essentials
The beauty of taking a self-catering holiday in the UK is that you don’t have all the luggage restrictions and language or currency changes to deal with as you do when going abroad.
The basic rules for packing are generally the same whether you are going abroad or taking a UK break, but the hassle of airport check-ins and baggage restrictions are just a couple of things you won’t have to deal with, leaving you more time to get on with enjoying your well earned holiday.
Towels are a bulky item to pack, but if you choose an FBM Holidays self-catering holiday at 4 or 5 star rating, then towels will be provided, meaning you will just need to bring your beach towels. Some of our 3 star properties may also provide towels, but do check first. If they don’t provide towels, then you can hire them locally if you wish to.
Rolling clothes to avoid creases is always a good idea, but an iron will be proved in our self-catering accommodation should you need to give your clothes a press after travelling, so there’s no need to pack a travel iron or plug adaptors like you do when travelling abroad!
For UK breaks it’s always a good idea to have clothes for all types of weather. Packing items which can be layered up if the weather turns a bit cold is useful in Spring and Autumn, and its generally a good idea to bring a waterproof coat and brolly for those occasional wet days. But generally our weather here in Pembrokeshire is mild and our recent autumn days were just as good as those in the summer!
And if you want to bring your dog on holiday too, then there’s a good selection of pet-friendly holiday properties available, so you can forget the hassle of putting them in kennels and let them enjoy a holiday too.
It is always a good idea to make a list of the things you will need to take with you.
