Activities for Couples

There’s plenty to enjoy together on a romantic break in West Wales.

West Wales is the perfect destination for couples. If you’re looking to surprise your other half or simply want to escape on a romantic getaway then make Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire or Ceredigion your destination of choice.

Not only will you be able to unwind and enjoy the beautiful scenery each county has to offer, there is plenty to do to keep you amused as you explore together.

To ensure your romantic holiday helps you reconnect, rewind and feel rejuvenated we have come up with a few ideas which we hope will do just that.

Snuggle Under the Stars

Spend a blissful evening out stargazing, snuggled up with your loved one.

Pembrokeshire is a fantastic spot in the UK for stargazing and dark skies.

With low light pollution and plenty of peaceful spots to spend time marvelling at the skies, Pembrokeshire is ideal for a spot of stargazing.

The beautiful county is a designated Dark Sky area and should you want to learn more there are local expert astronomers to guide you on where to go and what to look for.

Take to the Seas

Take in the turquoise waters which lap the shores of West Wales from a boat.

You’ll be able to get a different, special perspective of the fantastic rock formations which create this fantastic coastline.

You’ll also be able to see some amazing wildlife too. Watch dolphins play, seabirds bring home their catch and grey seals bob about.

Why not book an evening cruise to soak up the last of the sun’s rays and make your experience extra magical?

Here is one provider who will help you plan just that.

Cwtch up in a Traditional Welsh Pub

There’s no better way to spend quality time with your loved one in the winter than in front of a fire in a quaint country pub. So, for one with a roaring fire head to The Sloop Inn in Porthgain, Inn at the Sticks in Llansteffan or The Nags Head in Abercych.

We also know that a pub is the destination of choice to reconnect after an action-packed day so we recommend you seek out the following: the quirky Tafarn Sinc in Rosebush after a stroll on the Preseli Hills, The Bishops in St Davids after a day coasteering and The Black Lion in Abergorlech after a wander or mountain biking in the countryside.

On a summers evening, you’ll find plenty of pubs with suntraps for you to watch the world go by from. For stunning river estuary views visit The Cresselly Arms in Cresswell Quay or The Lawrenny Arms. Alternatively, the best pubs right on the seafront try The Harbourmaster in Aberaeron, The Griffin Inn in Dale or The Shed in Porthgain.

Luckily for you, many of these pubs are proud to serve locally brewed beer and hearty meals too.

Get Outdoors

If you and your other half love to go on adventures together then you will be spoilt for choice in West Wales.

You can try paddle boarding with Good Trails, coasteering with TYF Adventure, horse riding on the beach with Nolton Stables or hire mountain bikes from Mike’s Bikes in Haverfordwest.

Check out our other activity pages and blogs for even more inspiration and information.

Alternatively, stroll hand in hand through dappled woodland and along golden sandy beaches. Walking together will help you appreciate your surroundings and we are sure you will fall in love with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Carmarthenshire’s Brecon Beacons National Park and Ceredigion’s nature reserves.

There are plenty of gardens to amble through within each of these counties too and of course there is many a pretty harbour and quaint traditional market town to get lost in.
