The main river, renowned for its excellent run of migratory fish, offers the visiting and local angler a vast choice of conditions and productive pools in some truly unspoilt natural surroundings. Indeed, the whole Cleddau catchment area has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is host to a wide variety of wildlife, including otters, kingfishers, herons, ducks and dragonflies. Sabre Tooth Charters aim to provide a complete angling service. Recognising that different anglers have differing requirements, they will attempt to put together a package tailored for each individual, whether a day trip or a full-blown week's holiday. If you fancy just a short one and a half hour mackerel trip then hop aboard the 'Summertime'. Average stock size over 2lbs plus double figure fish and a separate catch and release fly only lake. Newsurf, based in Newgale, is a family run business set in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Newgale provides the ideal location for watersports; there is always plenty of space on the long, two-mile stretch of flat sand and whilst the Atlantic Ocean rollers ensure exciting surf, it is a safe beach for the young and not so expert. The beach has been awarded a European blue Flag, guaranteeing the cleanliness of the water. Newgale is easy to find, midway between Haverfordwest and St Davids, on the main A487 road. There is a cafe at both ends of the beach and The Duke Of Edinburgh Inn is next to Newsurf on the sea front. Newsurf can provide a wide selection of all surf equipment and accessories for hire to accompany an instruction course. Surf instruction is is provided, with courses available all year round and daily classes during the school holidays. The courses are suitable for complete novices but improver courses are also available. Each course is usually half a day and includes a wetsuit and board.
