The delightful village of Stackpole is set within the tranquil countryside of Pembrokeshire, South West Wales. As a National Nature reserve you will be overwhelmed by the areas outstanding natural beauty and the unique qualities that it possesses. Stackpole is better known for the Stackpole Estate, a parkland area and property that was first owned by The Cawdor family, a wealthy family whom had several residences within England and Wales. Due to the property being requisitioned during the war, it became a training ground for troops, after this, the land become economically unsuccessful, and so The Cawdor family left the property to return to their other estates in Scotland. The property has sadly now been demolished, however the picturesque parklands still exist, and is now the established attraction of Bosherston Lily ponds, a spectacular lakeside walk created many years ago, by flooding the limestone valley. This glorious place is not to be missed, and takes you on a magical walk through the stunning countryside, and alongside the serene waters.

If visiting in June, have the pleasure of seeing the lakes at their best as they explode with colour, carpeted with a delicate layer of Lily pads. The National Park is also home to some exquisite wildlife, and whilst walking, see if you can spot the many dragonflies that skim the lakes, or the gentle otters that nest here. The area is also abundant with seabirds, and heron, and if you get chance, pop down to Stackpole Quay, and see the unspoilt beauty of the Pembrokeshire coastline.
The limestone cliffs that surround this area are very popular with rock climbers, and can provide the ultimate challenge even to the skilled enthusiast, with the momentous sights you get from the top, the steep climb will definitely be worth it.

From Stackpole, you could also visit the popular seaside resort of Tenby featuring miles of golden sandy beach, and boat trips out to Caldey Island, where you could visit Caldey Monastery and gift shop.
