The first athlete home out of a 1,482 field in the 2013 Ironman Wales crossed the finishing line to a hero's welcome from crowds in Tenby.
Scotsman, Scott Neyedli came out of retirement to take on the gruelling course, and ran out winner in a time of nine hours, nine minutes and ten seconds following a 2.5 mile swim, a 112-mile cycle and a fulll marathon. Polish Olympian Marek Jaskolka, making his Ironman debut, was nine minutes behind in second place.
There was a delighted dance on the red carpet on Tenbys Esplanade from the first lady home - Lucy Gossage, who was repeating her Ironman UK success. She finished a clear 25 minutes ahead of last years victor, Regula Rohrbach of Switzerland.
Billy Connor, FBM Holidays own Ironman, finished in a great time of 13 hours 36 mins, this was despite cycling and running with a piece of glass in his foot picked up in the transition from the swimming to the cycling. Well done Billy and to all the competitors. A big thank you must go to everyone who contribute in all ways to make the Pembrokeshire Ironman the best in the world.
