Pembrokeshire is becoming more and more popular with cyclists. Increasing numbers are coming to the area to enjoy on-road and off-road cycling in some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the country. Pembrokeshires contrasting terrain is criss-crossed by an extensive network of quite country lanes, making it a great destination for cyclists of all abilities. There are also opportunities to enjoy traffic-free rides through some of the countys spectacular scenery on both surfaced and un-surfaced tracks.
Choose to cycle the windswept moorlands and high peaks of the Preseli Hills, or explore gentler routes that lead to picturesque villages, quiet stretches of inland waterway, colourful fishing harbours and fine sandy beaches. Even the experienced rider can find something to challenge them.
Pembrokeshire is home to several major events involving cycling. In 2011 Tenby hosted the first Ironman Wales event which included a 112 mile cycle across some of South Pembrokeshires most testing terrain. There is also a Long Course Weekend where the individual Ironman distance events are run on consecutive days.
The Tour of Pembrokeshire has been running since 2008 and this year sees new routes in the northern part of the county, with its base in St Davids and routes of between 50 and 100 miles.

There are several cycle clubs in Pembrokeshire and all would be happy to have visitors to the area join them. Several offer regular group rides and there are also regular time trials through the summer for the racing cyclist.
There is a cycle and triathlon coaching business in Pembrokeshire. NB Cycle Coaching is based in Pembroke Dock and offers professional multisport coaching to athletes of various abilities. NBCC has a comprehensive itinerary of bike routes ranging from easy 20 mile rides to testing 100 mile plus rides. Coached swim and run sessions can also be arranged. Full details can be found here:-
