Here you can learn all about the people and past of Haverfordwest as well as see the gallery full of art work reflecting the past and present scenes of the town. If art is your interest there are several galleries dotted around the town including the Andrew Bailey Gallery, Sheep Shop and Perryn Butler. If youre interested in getting out and about in the countryside then a walk around Blackpool Mill and the old church of St John the Baptise is a must. The mill is known to have existed from the 16th century. During the next 200 years the mill was used as an iron forge and the nearby woodland used as charcoal to heat the furnaces. During the 19th century the mill became uneconomic so it was turned into a grist mill, which is the building that still stands today.
From the 12th century the Knights of St John of Jerusalem held the Slebech estate. It was founded as a religious charity to aid pilgrims travelling to the Holy City. Today, all that remains of the knights headquarters is the small church. The majority of the walls are still standing, however the roof has been completely removed and put on the new church which sits adjacent to the A40. Despite its ruined state the church is an extremely romantic and isolated spot. Its possible to get marriages blessed here which is a great excuse to visit this wonderful place!
