Carmarthen

Step back in time and holiday to the ancient town of Carmarthen (reputedly the birth place of Merlin) located in the beautiful countryside of South West Wales.

Bustling with life, Carmarthen offers up a range of activities to suit the whole family, journey back into history as you stroll around the towns museums, and witness the theatrical display of historical architecture as you spend the afternoon shopping around the towns numerous shops.

The towns ruined Castle portrays a magical atmosphere over the town, capturing its medieval essence and tempting its visitors to explore deep into the ancient myths and secrets that are masked by its dominant presence.

With Carmarthen being so central, it is the ideal place to stay and relax whilst giving you the option to explore other nearby attractions. Surrounded by rolling hills and the vivid colours of the blossoming trees, you will not have to venture far to be enthralled by the splendour of the Welsh countryside. Just under thirty minutes away, you will find yourself immersed in the tranquil world of sea and sand as you walk the silky beach of Pendine. Here you can spend the day relaxing in the warmth of the sunlight or explore the rocky landscape on foot and catch a glimpse of some of the amazing wildlife that inhabits the area.

Whilst in Carmarthen, take a stroll around its ancient streets and call into the quaint gift shops that are found here, pop into “Whispering Willows” for unique Welsh crafts, or “Global” for a special souvenir. Then take a wander into the recently constructed arcade of St Catherine’s Walk, to find yourself enclosed by modern stores such as New Look, and Next along with an abundance of modern style restaurants including Pizza Express and a taste of American cuisine with Frankie and Bennys. After dinning spend the evening in the new 3D Apollo cinema, where films suddenly come to life, engrossing you within their story lines.

If you are a keen golfer, then spend the day at Carmarthen Golf Club and play your favourite sport within the picturesque surroundings of the rural landscape. For a delightful afternoon out, take a scenic drive to the quaint village of Laugharne. As the home to the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, Laugharne boasts some awe- inspiring views across the River Taff, transporting you to a secret world of peace and tranquillity. It is along the coastline that you can visit many other charming villages, all with their unique qualities and characteristics displayed by their enchanting environments.

FBM Holidays can provide you with a very comfortable stay whilst vacating in Carmarthen, all within the peaceful surroundings of a secluded meadow and lustrous woodland. “Primrose Cottage” is a cosy property which will cater for up to six people along with one behaved pet. The cottage is nearby the unspoilt village of Llansteffan, offering up some fantastic views of the estuary, and evening walks under the starlit skies. So get the family together (and the dog!) and start enjoying the historical world of Carmarthen, whether its to learn about the towns ancient past, or simply to relax in the serene environment, a holiday to Carmarthen will thrill the minds of both young and old alike.
