Alyn Williams to visit Fish Week

It gets said that Alyn Williams doesn’t get out of the kitchen very often, so when he got invited to Walesto take part in this years Pembrokeshire Fish Week Festival at the beginning of July along with other esteemed chefs and personalities Alyn jumped at the chance.

Alyn quoted “I’m expecting a hectic couple of days in Pembrokeshire filled with fishing adventures and great cooking.”

Alyn has only ever been out sea fishing once before in his life. A couple of years ago he cast a line off the coast of a smallCaribbeanisland. The only fish that he caught that day weighed around 200g and fit in the palm of his hand.

I hope you have a big appetite

After  Alyn’s fishing adventure he will be demonstrating some cooking techniques and dishes with the fish that he (hopefully) caught. He will incorporate into the dish a good selection of Yun Hider’s foraged vegetables and herbs from the woodlands and coastline ofWales.

“I will be using Welsh butter and Welsh salt (which is fantastic) and I’m really looking forward to cooking with all of these local and fresh ingredients.”

To round off the day he will be cooking a meal at the Torch Theatre, he will be back in the kitchen which really is Alyn’s comfort zone. He is in charge of the dessert which is his version of a baked apple with homemade rolos and a hazelnut cream.

“I love this dessert and just hope there is enough to go around… but you know that fishing lark gives you a very large appetite Mmm.”
