For a charming holiday break by the sea, escape to the picturesque village of Amroth, set within the glorious countryside of South West Wales, Amroth features many splendid qualities that make it an exquisite place to visit. Wrapped up in history, Amroth beach holds an ancient secret, which if given the opportunity, should not be missed. Within the sand, the remains of a petrified forest that grew here during the ice age can still be seen. Local historians suggest that the forest got destroyed by the rising waters around 7000 years ago and when at low tide, the ancient stumps still appear, presenting a visual timeline of how the land once appeared.

The quaint village of Amroth resides directly on the coast, and features a few small shops all boasting souvenirs and local novelties. After spending the day exploring the beach and the local area, treat yourself to an evening meal within the cosy comforts of “New Inn”, an historic tavern situated at the far end of the village overlooking the picturesque waters of the glistening sea. The New Inn is a family owned pub, providing a wide range of food, including Welsh steaks and homemade curries, along with refreshing beverages and bar snacks.

For a real treat, take a visit to the beautiful, tranquil scene of Colby Woods and gardens. Exploding with colour in the spring, the gardens stunning scenery is a fantastic way to unwind and be inspired by the splendour that surrounds you.  The peaceful atmosphere will calm your mind, and the vivid colours will dazzle you into a world of enchantment. Through the warmth of the summer evenings, enjoy an open air theatre event that takes place within the gardens, providing great entertainment for the whole family, as well as majestic walks in and out of the shaded trees and dancing butterflies.

Amroth is also in a great location to visit other nearby attractions, the seaside resorts of Tenby, and Saundersfoot, are just short drives away, both boasting many splendid gift shops, and exquisite restaurants. Pop into “The Olive Tree” in Saundersfoot for some unique gifts, or take an historic walk around the coastal path and visit the rocky sands of Wisemans Bridge.
