Llangwm

Set in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, nestled on the Western bank of the Cleddau Estuary the village of Llangwmhas a long history that dates back to before the Norman invasion of 1066.

The village sits right on the edge of the estuary so stunning views are in abundance and due to its location it’s unsurprising that the village comes from a long history in the fishing industry which can be seen in the long, single storey, stone fisherman’s cottages dotted throughout the village. Llangwm was once famous for its oysters and other varieties of shellfish that were exported to Bristol and many other places. If you have a boat and are thinking of holidaying in Pembrokeshire then Llangwm makes a great base from which to explore the Cleddau Estuary.

Being in the centre of Pembrokeshire, Llangwm offers a variety of walks, whilst also being close to some of the county’s finest beaches and cycle paths.

As well as being a great place to explore for outdoor enthusiasts, the village is rich in arts and crafts and is home to many artists including popular photographer David Wilson who has taken many distinctive and well recognised photographs of areas all over Walesand featured them in his own book which is available from many local bookshops.

A unique feature of Llangym is their scarecrows. The scarecrows go on show to the public during the village's festival fortnight, which normally runs during the last week of June and the first week of July. Past scarecrows have included a 7ft tall Shrek, a bride complete with flowing white dress and also the Dr Who Tardis!
